Vice President of the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) Sayit Yusuf made various contacts in Hungary as part of the promotion of the "Turkey Scholarships" program for students and researchers living abroad and wishing to study in Turkey.

YTB Vice President Yusuf met with Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Szeged University officials, International Public University and Avicenna Institute officials, as well as Budapest Ambassador Ahmet Akif Oktay and TRNC Budapest Representative Özgür Ezel

YTB Vice President Yusuf, had a meeting with Yunus Emre Institute Budapest Director Mustafa Aydoğdu, Budapest Embassy Education Counselor Hilal Kaya, Board of Education in Hungary Country Representative Mustafa Dillioğlu and Turkish States Organization Hungary Office Project Manager Ali Kılıçarslan Topuz at the Yunus Emre Turkish Cultural Center (YEI) Budapest building.

“ONLY ONE-SIDED STUDENT ACTIVITY IN THE FIELD OF EDUCATION”

Speaking about his contacts in Hungary, Yusuf said that Turkey has historical and cultural relations with Hungary, that the two countries have become politically close especially in recent years, and that Hungary's being an observer member in the Organization of Turkic States is not only related to Turkey but also to the entire Turkish geography, adding that it was instrumental in the development of political relations.

Yusuf stated that they think that the good relations between the two countries are not reflected enough in the field of education and culture, and said:

“There is a one-sided student activity in the field of education. Many students come to Hungary in order to receive education. While more than 4,000 students from over 160 countries receive YTB scholarships offered by Turkey, very few students come to Turkey with scholarships from a politically and culturally close country like Hungary."

Noting that YTB has undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs as well as programs for academics, Yusuf noted that they wish more Hungarian students and academics to show interest in this context, and that they will continue their studies in this context.
