Turkish Language Expands Presence to Venezuela in Latin American Landscape

Yunus Emre Institute is heightening interest in Turkish culture, including in Latin America, through activities that showcase Türkiye’s cultural heritage.

The Institute persistently works to satisfy the growing interest in Türkiye’s cultural elements in Latin American countries.

A collaborative protocol was signed between the Yunus Emre Institute in Caracas and the Central University of Venezuela, one of the largest state universities in the country.

As part of the signed protocol, the Institute expanded its operations to include Venezuela, marking another addition to the countries in Latin America where it actively operates. In line with the planned activities outlined in the protocol, the initial focus will be on the implementation of Turkish language teaching programs by the Institute.

The signing ceremony for the protocol, held at the Central University of Venezuela, was attended by Aydan Karamanoğlu,Turkish Ambassador to Caracas, Hasan Nalbant,  Coordinator of the Yunus Emre Institute in Caracas, Victor E. Rago, PhD, University Rector, staff from the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Caracas, and university officials. 

Aydan Karamanoğlu, Turkish Ambassador to Caracas, emphasized that the Central University of Venezuela (UCV), established in the 17th century and educating over 50 thousand students, stands as the oldest state university in Venezuela and that it earned a place on UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 2000.

Ambassador Karamanoğlu expressed that the collaboration between Yunus Emre Institute and such a prestigious university is a strategic move in promoting Turkish culture and the Turkish language in Venezuela.

Karamanoğlu highlighted the significant interest in Turkish culture and language in Venezuela, expressing satisfaction with the upcoming launch of Turkish courses within the University, adding that this positive development, facilitated by the signed protocol, will swiftly address the demand for Turkish language education in response to the growing interest.

The protocol seeks to enhance collaboration between Türkiye and Venezuela, facilitating the reciprocal exchange of cultural and scientific knowledge.
