Yunus Emre Institute signed a Cooperation Protocol with TÜBİTAK

A cooperation protocol has been signed between the Yunus Emre Institute and the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) within the framework of the Turkish Academic and Scientific Cooperation Project (TABİP) conducted under the auspices of the Presidency.

The protocol, signed by the YEI President, Prof. Dr. Şeref Ateş, and the TÜBİTAK President, Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, aims at enhancing Turkey’s qualified human power , identifying Turkish and foreign qualified human power globally, setting up an efficient working network to encourage such activities  and conducting joint projects to expand academic and scientific cooperation.

Speaking at the signing ceremony where the two institutions came together to share their expertise and experience,  Yunus Emre Institute President Prof. Dr. Ateş stated that Yunus Emre Institute’s activities were based on five main pillars and diplomacy was one of those pillars where Yunus Emre Institute and TÜBİTAK met.

Prof. Dr. Ateş said that the Institute sought to promote Turkey’s scientific capacity abroad through science diplomacy and by cooperating with TÜBİTAK in particular, increase the number of foreign universities working with Turkey and encourage the exchange of academicians. He added that the Institute would play an intermediary role everywhere it operates to share TÜBİTAK’s experience with regard to science and research.

On the other hand, TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Mandal, who hosted the signing ceremony, stated that they would benefit from the field experience of Yunus Emre Institute and engage in joint academic and scientific activities.

Mandal said that they would conduct joint projects and cooperate in strategic areas taking into consideration the regional sensitivities.  He said, TÜBİTAK, which used unusual methods to enhance scientific awareness especially with the youth, could easily use this expertise and experience in the cooperation.

The ceremony ended with the signing of the protocol envisaging various cooperation activities within the framework of TABİP and “science diplomacy”.
