"Digital Tools and Media Literacy Training Program for Journalists" was organized in Syria Safe Zone in cooperation with Azaz Yunus Emre Institute and Selçuk University Faculty of Communication, Department of Radio, Television and Cinema. The program, which aims to contribute to the correct approach to journalism, was held in two phases in Azaz and Konya with the participation of fifteen journalists working in different media agencies.
The program, which was organized at Azaz Yunus Emre Institute on July 18-20, 2022, and at Selçuk University on July 25-27, included many training modules necessary for journalism today. The program included training on "creating news script", "image reporting and journalism practices in crisis zones", "media literacy and disinformation", "short film script writing", "short film shooting and editing", "diction training", and "practical workshops".
TRAINING PROGRAM SUPPORTED BY PRACTICAL WORK
In the Konya stage of the trainings given by Selçuk University Faculty of Communication faculty member Assoc. Dr. Selman Selim Akyüz and Faculty of Fine Arts faculty member Assoc. Dr. Mehmet Sefa Doğru, practical studies on journalism practices were carried out by participating in the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games.
On July 20, during the closing program, the rector of Selçuk University, Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy, stated that they were happy to organize different cultural, artistic, and educational programs with Yunus Emre Institute. Aksoy continued his speech with the following words:
"Journalists play a big role in the first stage of accessing accurate information. Where there is no understanding of accurate journalism, information will always be open to question. I hope the training Syrian journalists received in Azaz and Konya will contribute to the understanding of correct journalism."
The training program ended after the presentation of certificates and gifts to the participants.
