An Exhibition Introducing Historical Turkish Tamgas Held in the Netherlands

The exhibition titled “the International Exhibition of Petroglyphs, Tribal Tamga and Ancient Turkic Writing” hosted by Amsterdam Yunus Emre Institute was organized by the Turkish Embassy in the Hague and the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation.

 

The Turkish Ambassador in the Hague Selçuk Ünal, Amsterdam Yunus Emre Institute Coordinator Adil Akaltun, the Azerbaijani Ambassador in Amsterdam, Rahman Mustafayev, the Kazakh Ambassador in Amsterdam Askar Zhumagalyev and International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation President Günay Afandiyeva as well as many guests attended the program held within the scope of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye.

 

The Turkish Ambassador in the Hague, Selçuk Ünal stated that they were very pleased to organize the international exhibition where historical Turkish tamgas were introduced within the scope of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye events at the Amsterdam Yunus Emre Institute.

 

Ambassador Ünal expressed his gratitude to Amsterdam Yunus Emre Institute for hosting and made the following evaluations: “We are proud to organize the first event of the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation in the Netherlands together.”

Expressing his gratitude to all institutions and organizations that contributed to the exhibition “Our institute builds cultural bridges between Türkiye and other countries with the cultural diplomacy activities it carries out on an international basis,” Amsterdam Yunus Emre Institute Coordinator Adil Akaltun said.

 

“These symbols, found in various parts of the world, are difficult to understand and have deep meanings”

 

Günay Afandiyeva, the President of the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation used the following expression: “Symbols, petroglyphs, tribal tamgas and ancient Turkic inscriptions go beyond drawings or paintings. The writings contain strong messages, describe historical events, and preserve the traditional elements of their ancestors. These symbols, found in various parts of the world, are difficult to understand and have deep meanings.”

 

In their speeches, the Azerbaijani Ambassador in Amsterdam, Rahman Mustafayev and the Kazakh Ambassador in Amsterdam Askar Zhumagalyev expressed their satisfaction with the organization of the event and expressed their gratitude to those who contributed to the realization of the exhibition.

 

The program ended by informing the guests about the works in the exhibition and offering delicacies from Turkish cuisine.
