Dozens of Sudanese housewives and young girls exhibited their handmade products at the Yunus Emre Institute (YEI) in the capital Khartoum.

On August 1, 2022, 33 women and young girls from the Makam Handmade handicraft center opened the exhibition "Your Market".

Hundreds of products ranging from bags, dresses and jewelry, herbal products, fragrances, cakes, and sweets to pottery were presented to the visitors at the exhibition, where various products unique to Sudan were exhibited.

Makam İbrahim, the founding director of the project and the center, said that the project, in which 33 people participated, started with the aim of supporting handicraft production and projects of young people.

"WE WOULD LIKE TO COOPERATE WITH TURKISH INSTITUTIONS"

İbrahim said, "The majority of the participants are housewives, and they will present the products they make at home to the visitors. We want to provide women with production-oriented training. We would like to cooperate with Turkish institutions such as the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA). I would like to thank Khartoum Yunus Emre Institute for hosting our first exhibition."

Khartoum Yunus Emre Institute Director Faruk Esen said, "Sudanese women had the chance to both exhibit and sell the works they produced. As Khartoum Yunus Emre Institute, we constantly support such works, but this is the first exhibition of this size and for this purpose. The exhibition will be open for 3 days."
