TRADITIONAL TURKISH CRAFTS MET WITH PAKISTANI ART LOVERS

The festival was organized by the Lahore Arts Council in Lahore, Pakistan between November 17-20, 2022. At the festival, Pakistani art lovers had the chance to see an exhibition of calligraphy, marbling, hand-woven carpets as well as a distinguished collection of Turkish-Ottoman style rosaries curated by Lahore Yunus Emre Institute.

Art lovers showed great interest in the exhibition, which featured outstanding works of traditional Turkish arts and was the center of attention for people of all ages.

Lahore Yunus Emre Institute Coordinator Eren Miyasoğlu commented on the exhibition: "The works of art created in the regions where Islamic civilization lived reflect both Islamic culture and local culture. Artists from Islamic countries have enriched Islamic arts with the traditional styles of their home countries. This festival serves a crucial role in promoting this richness."

Miyasoğlu continued:

"As societies living in the Islamic geography, we interact greatly. We have always interacted with each other and enriched our arts, both in Islamic arts and in literature and music. We are societies with a common denominator and this adds a unique beauty to our cultures. Some of this beauty will be seen in this festival where we will see Pakistani, Iranian and Turkish arts and our similarities will be in plain display."

Lahore-based artist Doğan Çağan led marbling and rosary*making workshops, which attracted great interest from Pakistani art lovers interested in Turkish culture.

The exhibition also featured the Institute's Turkish as a foreign language teaching materials Yedi İklim Turkish Sets and the participants were given detailed information about the Turkish language teaching activities of Lahore Yunus Emre Institute in Pakistan.
