Malaysian Armed Forces Staff Learn Turkish
Yunus Emre Institute (YEI) has started giving Turkish lessons to the Malaysian Armed Forces. Members of the Malaysian Armed Forces learn Turkish in online courses given by Yunus Emre Institute in Kuala Lumpur.
While 68 military personnel attended the online classes due to the current Covid-19 pandemic conditions, approximately 25 thousand people from Malaysia and the countries in the region had the opportunity to attend the Turkish lessons organized by Turkey so far.
In her statement on the subject, Turkey's Ambassador to Kuala Lumpur Merve Safa Kavakcı underlined that learning Turkish in a friendly nation like Malaysia is an admirable situation, emphasizing that the important position Turkey plays in world politics as a rising power plays an important role in organizing such events.
“ESSENTIAL SOURCE OF STREGNTH IN THE AGE OF SOFT POWER”
Kavakcı stated that the fact that Turkish is spoken in a far country such as Malaysia is a demonstration of Turkey’s soft power and a result of cultural diplomacy, and added:
"Under the visionary leadership of our President, Turkey, on the one hand, increases its military hardware strength, which is seen as an important resource by other actors who shape the world, on the axis of 'national and domestic'; and on the other hand, it strengthens the soft power that nation-states have built as an indispensable power source in our age. Thus, Turkey makes a sustainable influence on a global scale.”
