The Position of Turkish among World Languages Strengthened

Yunus Emre Institute strengthens the position of Turkish among world languages by supporting foreign universities' Turkish Language and Literature departments in addition to the Turkish language teaching activities it carries out to promote Turkish in different regions of the world.

THE DEPARTMENT OF TURKISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE AT COMRAT STATE UNIVERSITY HAD ITS FIRST GRADUATES

The Department of Turkish Language and Literature, established within Comrat State University thanks to the initiative of Comrat Yunus Emre Institute, had its first graduates this year.

The ceremony hosted by the University on June 19, 2023 was attended by the officials, academicians and students of Comrat State University Department of Turkish Language and Literature.

In his speech at the ceremony, Head of Comrat State University Department of Turkish Language and Literature Assoc. Prof. Kürşat Şamil Şahin stated: "I cannot begin to describe the happiness of establishing the Department of Turkish Language and Literature within Comrat State University, where we laid the foundations of Turkish language and culture, and to be present at the ceremony of the first graduates of the department."

"IT IS OUR GREATEST WISH TO INCREASE THE INFLUENCE OF TURKISH CULTURE AND LANGUAGE THROUGHOUT MOLDOVA"

Assoc. Prof. Şahin added: "It is our greatest wish to enroll more students in the Department of Turkish Language and Literature in the coming years and to increase the influence of Turkish culture and language throughout Moldova."

"MY LOVE FOR TURKISH LANGUAGE AND CULTURE WAS A TURNING POINT IN MY LIFE"

Valedictorian and Turkish Lecturer at Comrat Yunus Emre Institute Anna Cilcic stated: "I visited Istanbul with my mother when I was a child. Türkiye left such an impression on me that I decided to learn Turkish in high school. After this decision, I attended the Turkish courses of Comrat Yunus Emre Institute and in 2017, the Turkish Summer School program of Yunus Emre Institute gave me the chance to visit Türkiye again, after so many years. My love for Turkish language and culture was a turning point in my life. I am very happy to share the knowledge I have gained from this department, which I finished as the valedictorian, with those who want to learn Turkish in Comrat."

“I WAS FIRST INTERESTED IN TURKISH BECAUSE OF ALL THE TURKISH TV SERIES I WATCHED, MY INTEREST GREW EVEN MORE AFTER I VISITED TÜRKİYE”

Tatiana Iusiumbeli, one of the graduates of the Turkish Language and Literature department, said: "I chose this department because our language and history have many common features. I was first interested in Turkish because of all the Turkish TV series I watched, my interest grew even more after I visited Türkiye. Thanks to this department, I had the opportunity to study and do internships at universities in Türkiye as part of the student exchange program. I have thought of myself as an interpreter ever since I started university. My decision has not changed for four years, I want to start my career as an interpreter."

"THE OPENING OF THE DEPARTMENT OF TURKISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE AT THE UNIVERSITY WAS A GREAT CHANCE FOR US"

Liubov Cristeva, one of the graduates, commented: "I decided to learn Turkish because of my interest in Turkish TV series and Turkish songs. In my senior year of high school, I learned that the Turkish Language and Literature department would be opened at our university and I decided to study in this department. I also had the opportunity to visit Türkiye through a student exchange program. The opening of the Department of Turkish Language and Literature at the university was a great chance for us. I am delighted to be able to contribute to the strengthening of cooperation between Moldova and Türkiye in the field of education."

Under the protocol signed between Comrat Yunus Emre Institute and Comrat State University, since 2019, Comrat Yunus Emre Institute has been providing courses to students of the Department of Turkish Language and Literature.
