Turkish Influence in the Balkans Increases

Yunus Emre Institute continues to carry out important projects for the promotion of Turkish language and culture through its over 80 foreign representative offices across over 60 countries since its establishment.

THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE LEARNING TURKISH IN SARAJEVO IS INCREASING EXPONENTIALLY

As part of the project carried out in cooperation with Sarajevo Yunus Emre Institute, Republic of Türkiye Selçuklu Municipality and Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB), a ceremony was held for the opening of the Turkish language class in Donji Vakuf, Sarajevo.

The opening of the Turkish language class was attended by Sarajevo Yunus Emre Institute Coordinator Mehmet Akif Yaman, Selçuklu Municipality Mayor Ahmet Pekyatırmacı, Konya Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Mustafa Uzbaş, Donji Vakuf Mayor Huso Susiç, administrators of Prva Osnovna Skola and students.

 

 

"WE ARE HAPPY TO WELCOME YOU IN THE HEART OF BOSNIA"

Delivering his protocol speech, Donji Vakuf Mayor Hüso Susiç stated: "We are very happy to welcome our guests from Konya here today. We are grateful to the Mayor of Selçuklu. We are happy to welcome you in the heart of Bosnia."

"ONE HALF OF OUR HEARTS IS ALWAYS HERE, IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA"

Stating that the relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Türkiye are getting stronger day by day and that the municipalities are carrying out various activities to improve these relations, Selçuklu Mayor Ahmet Pekyatırmacı remarked: "I am very pleased to be in Donji Vakuf. As we always say, even when we are not here, one half of our hearts is always here, in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We have an immemorial friendship, a long-standing kinship and an ancient shared history with Bosnia and Herzegovina."

Mayor Pekyatırmacı stated: "The relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Türkiye are constantly developing and will continue to do so in the future. There is a lot of activity between the two governments. In this process, as local governments, we need to make serious contributions to these activities. To this end, we cooperate with Yunus Emre Institute, TIKA, Maarif Foundation and the Union of Turkish World Municipalities and carry out activities in the fields of education, culture and health throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina."

"OUR STUDENTS LEARNING TURKISH WILL TAKE OUR RELATIONS TO A HIGHER LEVEL"

Mayor Pekyatırmacı added: " Yunus Emre Institute's contribution to our activities here is one of the most important elements of the work. I would like to extend my special thanks to Yunus Emre Institute, our esteemed coordinator and the whole organization. We offer many different opportunities to our children learning Turkish. Last year we took 130 Bosnian students from here to Konya. For three days there, our children from Bosnia and Herzegovina had the opportunity to visit the historical and touristic sites of Konya and visit their schools. Hopefully, we will continue to take our children who study Turkish to Türkiye in the future."

The ceremony ended after the presentation of plaques.

TURKISH LANGUAGE TEACHING ACTIVITIES AROUND THE WORLD

Yunus Emre Institute continues to introduce the age-old Turkish language to large masses with its activities all over the world and to make Türkiye a center of attraction worldwide by spreading Turkish language in the international arena. The Institute has introduced millions of people to Turkish by crossing borders with Turkish, Yunus' language of peace and love, through Turkish courses organized in person and digitally, Turkish Teaching Portal, My Choice Is Turkish Project and videos.
