Hoca Ahmet Yesevi Library Opens at Astana Yunus Emre Institute

The "Hoca Ahmet Yesevi Library" opens with the program held at Astana Yunus Emre Institute.

Türkiye’'s Ambassador to Astana Mustafa Kapucu, Kazakhstan Parliament Deputy Abzal Kuspan, Kazakhstan National Academic Library Director Gaziza Kudaybergenova, Kazakhstan State Archives Director Sagila Nurlanova, as well as Kazakhstani poets and writers, university students and representatives of Turkish institutions and organizations attended the opening ceremony.

The library named after Hodja Ahmet Yesevi in the building of Yunus Emre Institute in Astana was established with the support of Turkish businessman Tansel Tercan and his academician wife Nurfer Tercan.

In his speech at the ceremony, Astana Ambassador Kapucu stated that wherever there has been an effort to establish a civilization throughout history, there has always been a library and added: "The library we opened here today will also serve this purpose," he said.

Noting that the library in question will be a sign of Turkish-Kazakh friendship, Kapucu said, "I would like to thank dear Ms. Nurfer and Mr. Tansel Tercan for having this library built in memory of their father, and I commemorate their beloved father with respect and mercy," he said.

Deputy of the Kazakhstan Assembly, Abzal Kuspan, stated that "Hoja Ahmet Yesevi, who is of great importance in the cultural relations between the two brother countries of the same origin, is one of the great figures of the Turkic World, and stated that it would be beneficial to hold such events more frequently. Deputy Kuspan made his speech in Turkish: "May brother Türkiye's friendship with Kazakhstan continue forever,” he said.

“Our library previously only served with the 'Entrusted Book' application. “Our library serves scientists studying at various universities, postgraduate students and book lovers, especially the trainees of our center and the students of the Turkish Department of Eurasia University and Nazarbayev University,” Astana Yunus Emre Institute Deputy Coordinator Almagül İssina said.

Acting Coordinator İssina stated that there are more than 3 thousand books in the library and made the following assessment: “Today, there is intense interest in Türkiye Turkish in Kazakhstan. Our library is of great importance in order to convey Türkiye's academic knowledge to those concerned.” 

There are more than 3 Thousand Books in the Library

The library of Astana Yunus Emre Institute, which currently has the most Turkish books in Kazakhstan, contains more than 3 thousand books, from encyclopedias to dictionaries, novels, academic studies and children's books.
